Cigar News | José Orlando Padrón Passes Away at 91

Today, the cigar industry is rocked with the sad news of the passing of a legend. José Orlando Padrón has died at the age of 91. He passed away last night surrounded by family.

José Padrón was born in 1926 in Cuba. He made his way to the states and worked as a carpenter before founding Padrón Cigars in 1964 in Miami, Florida. The company was eventually moved to Nicaragua but still holds an office in Miami.

The company dealt with many tough obstacles on the road to becoming known as one of the best cigar manufacturers in the world. At IPCPR 2017, José Padrón’s new autobiography, Memorable Moments in my Life, was on display. It recently went on sale, and in typical Padrón fashion, all proceeds will go to charity.

José Padrón and his family have always carried a respected name with strong family values. He will always be remembered as a great man and a true legend in the cigar world.

All of us at iROBUSTO offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the Padrón family during this difficult time. We ask the whole cigar industry to put some smoke in the air today for José Orlando Padrón.

Rest in peace, sir. You will not be forgotten!
