It’s Stog o’Clock once more, and this go around, I check out a shop-exclusive Padron cigar. The Padron Famous 75th Anniversary Maduro is a 5×54 box-pressed Robusto made to celebrate Famous Smoke Shop’s 75th year in business. It’s a Nicaraguan puro rolled with 5-year old tobaccos. Only 3,000 boxes of ten have been made.
The wrapper produces a chocolate and earth aroma, while the foot gives off a fruity tobacco smell. The cold draw is very loose and gives me the slightest chocolate flavor. Once lit, the cigar offers spice on the tongue with cocoa and coffee. Through the nose, I find more coffee with black pepper spice. The finish is spicy with earth and cedar.
After twenty-five minutes, the first third comes to a close. On the draw, I find espresso with a nutty earth. Through the nose, there is cedar with raisin and red pepper. The finish offers dark chocolate with black pepper and blackberry notes. Strength is at a manageable medium while body is very full.
The second third ends after fifty minutes. The draw gives me a salty earth alongside more espresso and grass. On the retro-hale, I pick up cocoa with more cedar and a hint of raisin. The finish gives me leather on top of black pepper and some black licorice. There is no change to strength or body.
The final third closes out at one hour and twenty-five minutes. More salty earth and espresso dominate the draw. Through the nose, I get a delicious blend of oak, leather, and raisin. Dark chocolate returns in the finish with buttery cream and black pepper. Strength and body finish out at medium and full, respectively.
The Padron Famous 75th Anniversary Maduro is another great cigar from Padron fit to celebrate an anniversary. It offers delicious familiarities within its own unique flavor profile. Performance is excellent, and the amount of smoke this cigar produces is phenomenal. At $21 per stick, there are some other Padrons I would grab first for that kind of money, but this is still a cigar I highly recommend.
