Let’s Get It Started, But…
Before I start with my review, let me get this out of the way.

I’ll make sure this doesn’t affect my review and you know me, I say what I want and quite honestly, because it’s 84 degrees here in Elkton, MD it’s hot day, so let’s fire this one up and feel some more heat.
I’m sampling the #3 size, a huge stick at 6.5” x 60. This is what one might refer to as a “big daddy” gag cigar, but with the manufacturers commonly putting out larger sizes to appeal to the newbies and demand for larger smokes it’s right there at the right size.
The cigar has a smooth, silky wrapper with many small veins. It’s rolled slightly inconsistent with a looser roll towards the foot and some firm spots near the head. I find this about different than what I’m used to in a Room 101 Cigar.
The Aroma & Cold Draw
I get nothing more than a bit of tobacco on this one. It’s that regular tobacco smell. It must be that fresh tobacco aroma that is flirting with me, we’ll see. Checking out the draw I get an interesting orange peel, I find the draw is slightly loose.
Construction: Wrapper, Binder and Filler
Binder: 3 Nation combination of long filler
Filler: 3 Nation combination of long filler
I have to admit when it comes to these bigger ring gauges I’m concerned about the amount of filler tobacco overpowering the flavor that we take from the wrapper.
First Impression After The Light
Right away the loose draw comes into play providing good smoke output and a surprisingly short finish. I’m getting a slight bite from Habano wrapper. The cigar’s profile is a tobacco core that is medium body with hints of orange peel and a smooth dry finish.
Cool, Slow Burning, Great Smoke Output
The El Mas Chingon (Room 101) Famous Smoke Shop Exclusive. Is a solid middle of the road type cigar. If you like spice, this one doesn’t satisfy your needs as there is not a whole lot of it. If you’re looking for complexity, well there’s not a whole lot of complexity either.
I’ll give this cigar some props for burning well with a flaky gray ash. At $6.70 per stick “El Mas Chingon” literal translation is “The Baddest” or “FN Great” or “Awesome”. It’s got a bit of a “Cubanesque” retrohale and a great name but is it more hype than substance? I’m saying “FN Great” on smoke output.
Until next time I see you, have a great day! You know how to do it.
