It’s Stog o’Clock, and this time, I check out the new Herrera Esteli TAA Exclusive from Drew Estate. This 6×52 Toro features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with a Brazilian Mata Fina binder and Nicaraguan fillers. It was made as an exclusive release for Tobacconists Association of America retailers.
The wrapper puts off a fruity earth aroma, while I smell distinct raisin out of the foot. The raisin also comes through on the cold draw. Once lit, I pick up buttery earth with toast and leather on the tongue. Through the nose, sweet caramel and toast pair with cedar. The finish gives me red pepper on top of leather and clove.
Forty minutes in, the first third closes out. On the draw, I pick up leather with some coffee and cocoa. Through the nose, cedar mixes with black pepper and a wonderful molasses and caramel combo. The finish offers red pepper and smoky earth. Both strength and body settle in at the medium-to-full mark.
The second third gets me to one hour and thirty minutes. More coffee and leather come through on the draw alongside sweet vanilla. The retro-hale gives me spicy caramel with toast. On the finish, I get burnt almond on top of black pepper and butter. There is no change to strength or body.
The final third finishes at two hours and fifteen minutes. I continue to get coffee and leather on the draw with the addition of char. Through the nose, red pepper returns and dominates with subtle dried fruit. On the finish, I get more black pepper with leather and hay. Strength and body finish out at the medium-to-full mark.
The Herrera Esteli TAA Exclusive is a delicious extension to an already phenomenal line. It offers tons of complexity with delectable, thick smoke. Construction is absolutely perfect. This is a must try for any cigar lover especially Drew Estate fans. It’s a box-worthy stick that I highly recommend.
