It’s Stog o’Clock, and this time, I review the Colibri Daytona cigar lighter. This single-flame jet lighter is one of the newer accessories released by the Colibri. It retails for $59 and is quite the addition to their profile.
The lighter’s style is based on that of auto racing, and it’s definitely purdy! The face displays a “grill” of sorts. The ignition lever is on the right, and on the left, there is a very large fuel window with a mirrored blue in the background allowing for an easy view of how much gas is in the tank. This is one of the best features I’ve seen on a cigar lighter. The fuel tank itself is quite robust allowing for more lights before a refill of butane is needed.
The rest of the lighter is relatively simple and straight forward. The flame hole has a cover that opens and closes as you depress the ignition lever. An adjustment knob on the bottom allows you to change fuel output. Like many lighters, if you turn it all the way down, it will rarely ignite. Don’t let that deter you. If you turn this thing up a bit, it’s extremely reliable and efficient. I had no problems whatsoever in my time testing this thing out.
As a side note, I made sure to bleed this with each fill, and I recommend doing so with any butane lighter. You need to get out as much of the air in the tank as possible to assure reliability and consistent flow of fuel.
The Daytona comes in eight different colors and brings with it a two year warranty. It’s wind resistant and has been tested to work at an altitude of 12,000 feet. In my experience using the lighter, I’ve found it to be an excellent option to light up your favorite smokes, and I highly recommend it. Cosmetically, it’s a really slick piece in all available colors, and the price is competitive. If you’re looking for another torch, this is one you need to consider.
