It’s Stog o’Clock, and this time, I review the Herics Cigar Tape. This measuring tape offers an easy way to measure cigars. It retails for $23.95 on www.herics.com.
Herics Cigar Tape is advertised as a 4-in-1 measuring tape. It features both ring gauge and length measurements in metric and imperial units. This makes for a useful tool to figure out the size of any cigar.
When measuring ring gauge, the tape is offset so measurements can clearly be seen without overlap unlike a traditional measuring tape. Ring gauge measures 22-100 (measured in 64th’s of an inch) with the flip side showing 9-40 mm. On the length end of the deal, measurements range 0-25” and 0-65 cm.
The tape is made of durable fibers which should provide plenty of use without wear. High-end printing techniques were used to assure clarity and accuracy. I tested this tape with numerous cigars of dimensions I’m certain, and it was accurate with every single one.
As a cigar reviewer, this kind of tool is extremely useful in finding out cigar dimensions if none are provided or known. There are countless times I’ve pulled an un-banded cigar out of my humidor trying to guess size only to wonder. Even with bands, some companies simply don’t publish size information anywhere.
The Herics Cigar Tape is a very neat accessory I think any cigar enthusiast should own. It’s extremely helpful for folks like myself in reviewing cigars, but it’s also a great thing for anyone who enjoys a stogie. Even if you only use this to satisfy curiosities, it’s worth the price and seems to be made well. Unlike cigars, you’ll only ever need one.
